2005-11-17 Founding Meeting
Introductions were made and everybody present gave a brief bio of themselves.
Keith Sanger and Nick de St. Croix gave a brief description of the proposed club and the progress made so far. Progress had been limited to designing the club logo and the membership form. The core of the club would be aimed at Orienteering for all levels from Junior to advanced, with a heavy emphasis on family participation. They described how they thought Adventure Racing would fit into the club.
Doug Innes gave a brief introduction to the Orienteering Ontario Association (OOA) and how the Caledon Navigators would relate to it.
Plans for the coming year include certifying some club members to be able to organize local races, to organize one of the Thomass series Orienteering events and to assist the Gators Orienteering club in organizing the Canadian Championships for 2006.
Interest was also expressed in holding regular training sessions for both novice and more experienced orienteers in order to develop a skill set within the club and promote orienteering within the community. It was also recommended that small informal meets be held in the spring and fall to build up the club and get interested families participating.
