Caledon Thomass Winter Orienteering Event
Hosted by the Caledon Navigators in Glen Haffy Conservation Area where the Oak Ridges Moraine meets the Niagara Escarpment resulting in spectacular views and unusual geographic formations. Bring your compass, and wear your running shoes, boots or snowshoes and enjoy a morning of hiking through the woods of Caledon. Event start/parking on Coolihan’s Sideroad between Airport Rd and Centerville Creek Rd on the South end of Glen Haffy Conservation Area at the Bruce trail entrance. 9:00am Sign in and waivers, 10:00am Mass start. Registation is now available at http://www.eventsonline.ca/events/thomass_gh/. Please be sure to register before midnight, January 16th to ensure a preprinted map is available for you. There will be limited same day event registration and maps at an additional cost of $5. Race fees are free to all Caledon Navigator Members. Non members - Juniors $7.50, Adults $15, Family $35. After updating your membership, to avoid Thomass event charges through Events On Line please register by e-mail to barbrich@ca.inter.net with the mandatory information marked in red with an asterisk on the Events on Line registration form. Typical Thomass format will be used. The length of the run will depend on a participant’s Thomass handicap. This race will feature the Thomass Box which consists of a set of 6 to 8 checkpoints which particpants may visit in any order. Participants may skip checkpoints in the box equal to their handicap. Handicaps are as follows: Females =2, 12 or younger =4, 13-14=3, 15-16=2, 17-19=1, 20-34=0 35-44=1, 45-54=2, 55-64=3, 65 or older=4 SportIdent timing will be used.
